Something is rotten in Russia. Why is Russia’s GDP per capita is lower than Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, etc? Russia is the largest country on Earth by territory, boasting immense natural resources and educated workforce. Yet Russia’s GDP falls behind its neighbors in Eastern Europe not having any significant natural resources. The answer is rather obvious – Putin’s kleptocracy does not work. Well, it works for him and his cronies but it does not for the rest of population.
